As you know, Troy Crossroads is changing to Troy Cronin, and we are very excited! Please know that we are working to make these changes throughout the school, and the website is also in the process of being updated.
We want to wish the happiest of holidays to our Crossroads Families! May the season bring joy, peace, and hapiness to you and your family!
We are looking forward to an amazing 2017! We celebrated Veterans Day today, and I was able to hear conversations and see students as they learned about and honored the men and women that have served our country.
Here is a poem by Crossroads 4th Grader, Tilly M. .... I hope you enjoy it! The Fright of a Soldier Gunshots have been heard There's not a single word I miss you home I feel alone Cannons have been fired Man am I tired My heart has just shattered I can’t help to know my family’s worried I’m really hurried Seeing you would be great I promise I won’t be late May be so happy I will faint Believe me I wouldn’t hesitate I wish I could be home at noon And maybe listen to a toon Take a drive or See my wife And oh, that child I haven't seen him in awhile Even just a little glance I would take the chance To see my family Don't look back You don’t want to lack I’ve been working hard I wish I could send a card Why am I here I wish I could just disappear But I am going to stand right here No stopping now You can’t turn around You’ve said goodbye But you still haven't said why This doesn't make sense Its getting so intense Blood is dripping down Like sweat But not And snot Oh disgusting, careless, negative Snot That poppy shines bright What a beautiful sight Eleven shouts loud But it shouts proud Bombs explode And the grounds erodes I feel bad Cause I’m a dad I’ve left them alone But I won't moan I’m on the ground My friend has just been drowned No one there for help Even when I yelp I won’t give up But I feel like a pup When I’m sick I feel like there's a brick Blocking me Nowhere to go Oh Man is that snow I’m so cold I just want a coat I’m not asking for gold Or a boat They haven't left me a note I believe That I can achieve I will fight to the end It will not depend My family is behind me Even if we aren’t free Won't back down Just from a frown May be disappointed But not mispointed You’ve helped me through the years Even if I can't hear with my ears I would thank you if I could You know that I would I miss you alot I’m sleeping on a cot Maybe I can come home to see you But Probably not I didn’t know if you knew But I have the flu I have to fight through it Even if I get hit Don't be upset But I have to jump out of a jet And there is a threat Right at the sunset My son doesn’t even know his alphabet yet He doesn’t learn much There's so many things he can't touch Collins is his name He doesn’t have much fame When he sees me, he loves it I wish he could throw a ball into my mit Collins misses me a lot He wants me to at least get to the story plot I walk out the door And he crys falling to the floor My beautiful wife, Sees my son all the time She enjoys it with all her might loving me with all she can She sees me as much as Collins But knows that i'm doing good deeds Misses me more because she knows i'm risking my life Doesn't know how to feel Wishing I could be home with her When I first left They didn’t know what to expect My son wanted me to stay But my wife pulled him away It didn’t make me feel great I thought I was making a huge mistake But there I was on my way Wanting to stay I slowly pulled out Still I hate the thought Leaving them was terrible Im sure that think the same I still get the same feeling Of me leaving Collins wanted me home But I left them all alone Maybe I can see them Probably not They wouldn’t be as happy as me I would be filled with great glee It's time for battle I don't feel ready but I know, I am No stopping now It's time for you to go This is a Honor If I don’t make it You know I tried my best I hope, I will be in your heart Even if I don’t see you ever Don’t cry, You may be sad And Collins won't have many memories Just try to enjoy the ones you have Hope, is all you can do I have made it From all I'm glad You don't have to cry Unless, they're tears of joy I can come home to visit Just for a bit But then it’s time For the...WAR This may be worse But this is for the universe It’s Time The gunshots were heard There wasn't a single word I'm afraid But won't back down Collins just know that I love you and my beautiful wife, too I Hope I will make it Don't worry about me I’ll try my best For, You My knee kind of hurts But it still works There's bodies around me With ash, As black as can be, ash I feel like I’m standing on my own But know my peers are here Oh, well there goes my guys Well I guess I am alone They are all charging me No one for help Even when I yelp They all charged Then what Don't know I’m lying on the ground, Clueless Now I know I will never see them… Again I was afraid of that Enjoy the past I told them Enjoy the past Today lying in my grave Collins has grown My wife's alone Nowhere to go Nowhere to be She Cancer Something you don't want to hear But I really can't I just know I’m watching over them Nothing will replace them Nothing will come close Are you getting excited? Monday, August 15th is the “Crossroads Meet and Greet!” The teachers are excited to prepare the rooms, and they are ready to meet their new students! We are looking forward to a rewarding school year, and we hope to see you Monday, the 15th from 3:00 – 4:30! Remember to bring your school supplies to drop off in the classroom! Kindergarten screenings have been taking place this week. This has been a great opportunity for incoming kindergarten students to be screened for class placement and for the staff to gain some general information about our new students.
Families were scheduled for an appointment for Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. If you didn't schedule time or you have any questions, please call the main office at 815-577-7314. We look forward to meeting you and your child. I hope that your holiday was fantastic! Here are a few quick updates:
Happy Summer!!!! See you soon !!! Even though school is out for the summer, Crossroads is a busy place! Here are a few of the summer accomplishments so far:
- We had an awesome Noodles and Company fundraiser! Thanks to everyone that participated, and special thanks to our PAC for organizing it! - The secretaries completed end of year reports, and they are preparing and ordering materials for next year! - The construction in the building is on schedule and much has already been accomplished! The custodians are ready to wax floors and shampoo carpets, clean, and move furniture back into classrooms. - I have been busy interviewing teacher candidates, working on class lists, and preparing for next year. I've also been involved in summer curriculum work with the teachers across the district to prepare for next year. - We have had a very productive start to the summer, and we look forward to accomplishing everything on the Crossroads “to-do” list before the 16-17 school year begins. - Our new assistant principal, Mrs. Yborra begins just after the 4th of July holiday, and we will be even busier then! See you soon! We have the opportunity to be the first group to experience the delicious cuisine at Noodles and Company (located at Route 59 and Black Road)! On Friday June 24th or Sunday June 26th each person will receive a meal valued over $12.00, however it will only cost $6.50. The Crossroads PAC is partnering with this new local business, and Crossroads will receive $5.00 for each sale! This is an awesome fundraising opportunity for Crossroads! We hope you consider purchasing tickets and enjoy dinner! Tickets must be purchased in advance. Here is the link: Troy Crossroads Noodles and Company Fundraiser
