Unfortunately, in our society, we must prepare for the worst. We have a comprehensive crisis plan for the school, and several drills throughout the year.
Our crisis plan includes being prepared for fire, tornado, lock down, and many other emergencies. Though we hope we never need to implement any of these plans, we are proactive and students see the drills as fairly “typical” events at school. The purpose is to make students and staff aware of the procedures, in the event that a real crisis arises.
Yesterday, we had an unannounced drill at Troy Crossroads. When this 'mock' situation occurred, one of our crisis procedures, a “Stay in Place,” was instated for the entire school. This means that students and teachers remained in the classroom and teaching continued. The hallways remained clear of students for safety.
As always, safety and learning are top priorities at Troy Crossroads. The Crossroads staff and students should be commended for a job well done!
